ELECTRONIC ORDER: Before the Court is Petitioner's request to expedite the Respondents' response to his pro se Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus. Petitioner has not met his burden to show good cause to expedite a ruling. He seemingly overlooks that the strict time limits of 28 U.S.C. § 2243 are subordinate to the Court's discretionary authority to set deadlines under Rule 4 of the Rules Governing Section 2254 Cases in the United States District Courts. See Castillo v. Pratt, 162 F. Supp. 2d 575, 57577 (N.D. Tex. 2001); Beaird v. Joslin, No. 3:05-cv-1833-K (BH), 2006 WL 2473338, at *3 (N.D. Tex. Aug. 11, 2006), rec. adopted, 2006 WL 2459378 (N.D. Tex. Aug. 22, 2006). Further, given the sheer volume of habeas litigation recently filed by alien detainees, the Court is not inclined to set a precedent for shortening the established deadline for response without a demonstration of good cause. Therefore, Petitioner's request to expedite is DENIED. (Ordered by Magistrate Judge Renee Harris Toliver on 12/30/2025) (chmb) (Entered: 12/30/2025)
