MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Cristina D. Silva on 1/13/2026. The respondent moves for a twenty-one-day extension of time to respond to Julio Cesar Valle Vizcarra's petition for writ of habeas corpus. ECF No. 7 . The respondent seeks this extension because he is waiting for essential information needed to complete his response, and counsel's competing deadlines make it impossible to respond by the current due date. Id. Title 28, United States Code, Section 2241 requires that petitions for writ of habeas corpus be promptly addressed. This is the respondent's first request in this matter, so I find good cause to grant it in part. The respondent's deadline to file his response is extended, nunc pro tunc, to January 26, 2026. MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Cristina D. Silva on 3/23/2026. Petitioner Julio Cesar Valle Vizcarra moves to extend the deadline to file an amended petition or, alternatively, to stay this matter until April 26, 2026. ECF No. 20 . Valle Vizcarra seeks this relief because an immigration judge issued an order of removal, which is currently pending appeal. Id. The motion is unopposed. Although 28 U.S.C. § 2241 requires that petitions for writ of habeas corpus be promptly addressed, the petitioner's request for an extension is reasonable under these circumstances. It is therefore ordered that the petitioner's unopposed motion (ECF No. 20 ) is granted in part, and the first motion to extend time (ECF No. 19 ) is denied as moot. The petitioner has until April 27, 2026, to file an amended petition. In light of this extension, the status conference set for April 6, 2026, is vacated and will be rescheduled in due course.
