ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE by Judge Claria Horn Boom on 8/13/26 : The Clerk of Court SHALL serve by certified mail, return receipt requested, one copy of the Petition, [R. 1 ], and this Order to each Respondent not subject to that certain Memorandum of Understanding dated 1/20/2026, entered into by the Court and the US Attorney's Office for the Western District of Kentucky. Respondents SHALL SHOW CAUSE why the Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus Under 28 U.S.C. § 2241, [R. 1 ], should not be granted, by no later than Monday, 8/17/2026. Petitioner SHALL file his reply by no later than Tuesday, 8/18/2026. A Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, 8/19/2026, at the hour of 3:30 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), before the Honorable Claria Horn Boom, United States District Judge. The hearing will be held via Zoom. Counsel SHALL contact the Courts case manager, John Slone, at john_slone@kywd.uscourts.gov to arrange to appear on Zoom. Petitioner must notify the Court on or before Friday, 8/14/2026, if an interpreter is necessary for the hearing. If the Petitioner asserts that there are issues of fact necessary to be addressed in the hearing, then they SHALL inform the Respondents and provide notice to the Court by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, 8/18/2026, and the Respondent SHALL produce the body of the person detained at the hearing.
