ELECTRONIC ORDER: Roxenia Ramirez Batista, an ICE detainee at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Jones County, filed a habeas petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2241 challenging her immigration detention. See ECF No. 3. Because § 2241 petitions should be filed in the division of the district in which the petitioner is confined, venue is improper in the Dallas Division of the Northern District of Texas. Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1406(a), and in the interest of justice, the Court TRANSFERS this case to the Abilene Division of the Northern District of Texas, where Petitioner is confined. 28 U.S.C. § 124(a)(3); N.D. Tex. Misc. Order No. 6 ("[M]agistrate judges are authorized....to sign orders transferring cases filed by prisoners...to the proper or more appropriate district or division.").
