ORDER TO ANSWER, 28 U.S.C. § 2241: Petitioner has filed a Petition for the writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2241. The Court, having examined the Petition, hereby ORDERS that: (1) By 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2026, Respondents shall file a letter with the following information: as further set forth within this Order. The parties shall appear for a telephonic case management conference on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Parties are directed to dial into the Court's teleconference number at 646-453-4442, Conference ID# 358639322, and follow the necessary prompts. If this case has been settled or otherwise terminated, the parties are not required to appear, provided that a stipulation of discontinuance, voluntary dismissal, or other proof of termination is filed on the docket prior to the date of the conference, using the appropriate ECF Filing Event. See SDNY ECF Rules & Instructions §§ 13.17-13.19 & App'x A, available at http://nysd.uscourts.gov/ecf_filing.php. Electronic access to the file in this case was limited to the parties and their attorneys under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 5.2(c). But there is substantial public interest in the Administration's enforcement of the immigration laws. Accordingly, the parties shall show cause no later than August 18, 2026, why the restrictions set forth in Rule 5.2(c) should not be lifted and the public should not be permitted electronic access to the file in this case, subject, of course, to the redaction of Petitioner's A-number and other personally identifiable information. In the absence of any timely objection, the Court will instruct the Clerk of Court to permit public access to the electronic file of this case. The Clerk of Court shall electronically notify the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York of this Order.
