[**TEXT ORDER ONLY - NO DOCUMENT ATTACHED**] ORDER TO FILE EXPEDITED BRIEFING. Petitioner, an alien detained at the West Tennessee Detention Facility, has filed a petition pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2241 challenging his continued detention without a bond hearing. On May 11, 2026, a panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit held that at least some aliens residing in the interior of the United States are entitled to a bond hearing pending their removal proceedings. See Lopez-Campos v. Raycraft, -- F.4th --, 2026 WL 1283891 (6th Cir. May 11, 2026). Respondent is therefore ORDERED to file a brief within seven (7) days of the date of this Order addressing its position concerning (1) whether there is any basis to distinguish this case from Lopez-Campos, and (2) whether Petitioner is entitled to relief based on Lopez-Campos, and, if so, the nature of that relief. Respondent is further ORDERED to include in its brief any information regarding the procedural posture of any pending Department of Homeland Security or Executive Office for Immigration Review proceedings along with copies of any final order of removal or other relevant orders of the immigration judge. If Petitioner opposes the position of Respondent, he may file a response within five (5) days of service of the Respondents brief. IT IS SO ORDERED. Signed by Judge Mark S. Norris on 5/21/26.
