District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered. On May 27, 2025, Petitioner filed a habeas petition challenging her detention that day by federal immigration agents. Doc. No. 1 . She filed an amended petition on June 5, 2025, adding factual allegations describing her conditions of confinement as well as a request for bail. Doc. No. 13 . Later that same date, Respondents filed an opposition to the original petition. Doc. No. 14 . After reviewing the submissions and discerning that Respondents’ legal argument applied equally to much of the amended petition, the Court authorized Petitioner to file a reply, due by June 17, 2025. Doc. No. 15 . Petitioner made no filing by that date. On June 20, 2025, Respondents filed an opposition to the Amended Petition, reiterating most of the legal argument from their prior submission and adding a brief new section addressing the request for bail. Doc. No. 16 . Petitioner, via an inquiry to the Clerk, now asks for a hearing on the amended petition and permission to file a reply to Respondents’ arguments. The request to file a reply—which is unopposed by Respondents and essentially seeks an extension of the deadline previously set by the Court for such a filing—is ALLOWED. Petitioner may file a reply, up to fifteen pages in length, no later than June 30, 2025. The request to schedule a hearing remains under advisement. The Court will determine whether a hearing is warranted after review of Petitioner’s reply.(FGD) (Entered: 06/24/2025)

District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered. The Court has reviewed the petitioner’s reply and its supporting exhibits, Doc. Nos. 18, 18-1 to -11, as well as a recent decision by Judge Kobick in a case that appears factually and legally analogous to this one, see Oliveira Gomes v. Hyde, No. 25-cv-11571, 2025 WL 1869299 (D. Mass. July 7, 2025) (slip copy). No later than 6 PM on Monday, July 14, 2025, the respondent shall file a supplemental brief, limited to five pages in length, addressing: 1) the change in posture of the petitioner’s immigration proceedings, as reflected in Doc. Nos. 18-6 and -7, which suggest that efforts by DHS to dismiss the removal proceedings and initiate expedited removal have been rejected by the Immigration Judge since the time of the respondent’s last submission; and 2) why this Court should not adopt the reasoning and conclusion expressed by Judge Kobick in Oliveira Gomes and award the same relief to this petitioner.(FGD) (Entered: 07/09/2025)
