MINUTE ORDER issued by Courtroom Deputy for District Judge Daniel J. Calabretta on 6/25/2026: On June 15, 2026, Petitioner filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus. (ECF No. 1 .) Based on the information in the Petition, the Court determined that it appeared Petitioner was entitled to relief and ordered a return pursuant to 8 U.S.C. § 2243. (ECF No. 7 .) Based on the information in the return, it is no longer clear that Petitioner is entitled to relief as required by 8 U.S.C. § 2243, as he may be subject to mandatory detention under 8 U.S.C. § 1226(c). (See ECF No. 8 .) However, the Court believes this case would benefit from the appointment of counsel. Within seven (7) days from the date of this order, the appointing authority for the Eastern District of California shall identify counsel and send counsel's contact information gmichel@caed.uscourts.gov, who shall update the docket to reflect counsel's appointment. If counsel is not a member of the Eastern District of California Criminal Justice Act Panel, within seven (7) days of this Order the Federal Defender shall file a motion to appoint counsel as CJA counsel pro hac vice. MINUTE ORDER (Text Only Entry) signed by District Judge Kirk E. Sherriff on 6/30/2026: Examination of this action reveals that it is related to Singh v. Warden, California City Detention Facility, 1:26-cv-04581-KES-EGC, within the meaning of Local Rule 123(a). Accordingly, the assignment of this matter to the same judge and magistrate judge as in Singh v. Warden, California City Detention Facility, 1:26-cv-04581-KES-EGC, is likely to effect a substantial savings of judicial effort and is likely to be convenient for the parties. It is hereby ORDERED that 1:26-cv-04593-DJC-JDP is reassigned from District Judge Daniel J. Calabretta and Magistrate Judge Jeremy D. Peterson to District Judge Kirk E. Sherriff and Magistrate Judge Erin Guy Castillo. The caption on documents filed in the reassigned case shall be shown as 1:26-cv-04593-KES-EGC. It is further ORDERED that the Clerk of the Court make appropriate adjustment in the assignment of civil cases to compensate for this reassignment. The Court's 9 Order directing the appointment of counsel and referring the matter to the assigned magistrate judge is modified to the extent that the appointing authority for the Eastern District of California shall now send counsel's contact information to VGonzales@caed.uscourts.gov. In order to ensure this Court's jurisdiction to resolve the pending § 2241 petition, respondent shall not transfer petitioner to another detention center outside of this judicial district, pending further order of the court. See 28 U.S.C. § 1651(a) (establishing the All Writs Act which empowers the federal courts to "issue all writs necessary or appropriate in aid of their respective jurisdictions...."); see also F.T.C. v.
