District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: ORDER entered. ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE.The Court has reviewed the petition and the response. Both submissions describe Petitioner as a noncitizen who overstayed a visa, and both reference a bond hearing that was scheduled for Petitioner for yesterday (May 26, 2026). Doc. No. 1 ¶¶ 4-5; Doc. No. 6 at 1 n.1. Per the response, the bond hearing was cancelled at Petitioner’s request (and not due to a refusal by the respondents to provide such a hearing). Doc. No. 6 at 1 n.1. The respondents have made a binding concession that Petitioner’s detention is pursuant to 8 U.S.C. § 1226 (not § 1225), and that he is entitled to a bond hearing. Id. at 1. Given the foregoing, Petitioner is hereby ORDERED to show cause by June 4, 2026, why this action should not be dismissed in light of the respondents’ concession and the scheduling of a bond hearing without an order from this Court.(FGD) (Entered: 05/27/2026)
