TEXT ORDER: Alvaro Matias Grosso has filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus in which he asserts that he is currently detained at Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego, California. ECF No. 1 at 2. As such, the District of Rhode Island does not have jurisdiction to adjudicate this matter. See Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U.S. 426, 443 (2004) ("The plain language of the habeas statute... confirms the general rule that for core habeas petitions challenging present physical confinement, jurisdiction lies in only one district: the district of confinement."); Thompson v. Barr, 959 F.3d 476, 491 (1st Cir. 2020) (transferring a petition for writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2241 to the district where petitioner was confined).
