ELECTRONIC Order Transferring to Another District: Jefferson Jose Rodriguez Quezada, an ICE detainee at the Webb County Detention Center in Laredo, Texas, filed a pro se habeas petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2241 challenging his immigration detention. Because § 2241 petitions must be filed in the district where the petitioner is confined, venue is improper in the Northern District of Texas. Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1406(a), and in the interest of justice, the Court TRANSFERS this case to the Laredo Division of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. See 28 U.S.C. § 124(b)(3); N.D. Tex. Misc. Order No. 6 ("[M]agistrate judges are authorized....to sign orders transferring cases filed by prisoners....to the proper or more appropriate district or division.").
