MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Cristina D. Silva on 5/8/2026. On April 23, 2026, petitioner Royston Joshua Karl Osbourne initiated this action by filing a pro se petition for writ of habeas corpus. See ECF No. 1. After screening the petition, I issued a service order and appointed counsel for Osbourne. ECF No. 3. Then, on May 4, Osbourne filed pro se an application to proceed in forma pauperis, and two days later, a pro se amended petition. See ECF Nos. 7, 8. Given the timing of two recent pro se filings, it is possible that Osbourne is unaware of the court's service and appointment-of-counsel order. I therefore order Osbourne's appointed counsel to advise, by May 22, 2026, whether the court should consider and resolve ECF Nos. 7 and 8, or whether counsel intends to file a counseled amended petition or take some other action. The respondents need not respond to the amended petition at ECF No. 8 until further order of the court.(no image attached) (Copies have been distributed pursuant to the NEF - JLB) (Entered: 05/08/2026)
