District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered. The respondents have opposed the petition by filing a memorandum in which the Assistant United States Attorney handling this case represents to the Court that travel documents have been secured to facilitate the petitioner’s removal to his home country, and that ICE has arranged to effect his removal within the coming week. Doc. No. 7. Though these representations are unsupported by an affidavit by a representative of ICE with knowledge of the underlying facts, the Court relies on counsel’s representations as an officer of the Court and LIFTS the stay-of-transfer-or-removal order issued upon the filing of this case. Doc. No. 4 . The respondents shall file a status report on May 1, 2026, in which they either 1) state that the petitioner has been removed from the United States as planned and identify when the removal occurred, or 2) if the petitioner has not yet been removed by that date, state when the removal is expected to occur. In either case, the respondents shall support the status report with a declaration by a representative of ICE with knowledge of the relevant facts.(FGD) (Entered: 04/24/2026)
