MINUTE ORDER (1) Requiring Response to 1 Petition, and (2) Denying Without Prejudice 3 Request to Undertake the Supervision of Eligible Law Students Pursuant to General Order No. 644-E. In his 1 Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus, Petitioner Jonathan Alexis Bonilla alleges, among other things, that he was not provided sufficient notice or an opportunity to be heard--as required by law--prior to his re-detention on August 25, 2026. The Court ORDERS Respondents TO SHOW CAUSE on or before April 21, 2026, why Petitioner should not be released from custody on that basis. Supervising Attorney Talia Inlender has also requested to supervise two UCLA School of Law Students, Alexandra Sarkis and Jessica Rich. (See ECF No. 3 .) Although the Motion adequately demonstrates the students' eligibility, pursuant to paragraph A of General Order No. 644-E (S.D. Cal. filed Mar. 26, 2025), Petitioner's "written consent" to the law students' appearance must be filed with the Court. The Court therefore DENIES WITHOUT PREJUDICE the Supervising Attorney's 3 Motion. (no document attached) (sxd) (Entered: 04/15/2026)

MINUTE ORDER Granting Petition. Respondents "do[] not oppose the petition and defer[] to the Court on the appropriate relief." (See ECF No. 7 at 3.) Accordingly, consistent with this Court's prior Orders, see, e.g., Minute Entry, Vasquez-Diaz v. LaRose, No. 25-cv-3038 TWR (JLB) (S.D. Cal. filed Nov. 13, 2025), ECF No. 6, the Court GRANTS the 1 Petition and ORDERS Respondents to provide Petitioner with an individualized bond hearing under 8 U.S.C. § 1226(a) within fourteen (14) days. Respondents SHALL NOT deny Petitioner's bond on the basis that 8 U.S.C. § 1225(b)(2) requires mandatory detention. (no document attached) (sxd) (Entered: 04/16/2026)

MINUTE ORDER Granting Petitioner's Motions 9 for Leave to Appear and 10 to Alter Judgment. Having received Petitioner's written consent to being represented by two UCLA School of Law Students under the supervision of Talia Inlender, the Court GRANTS the renewed Request to Undertake the Supervision of Eligible Law Students Alexandra Sarkis and Jessica Rich, Pursuant to General Order No. 644-E. Further, because Respondents failed to establish in their 7 Return that Petitioner had been provided with sufficient notice or an opportunity to be heard prior to his re-detention on August 25, 2026, release is the appropriate remedy. The Court therefore GRANTS Petitioner's 10 Motion to Alter or Amend Judgment, GRANTS Petitioner's 1 Petition, and ORDERS Petitioner's immediate release.
