The Federal Public Defender for the District of Nevada (FPD) is appointed to represent the petitioner and is directed to file a notice of appearance (or indicate its inability to represent the petitioner) within 7 days of the date of this order. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of Court is directed to: 1. FILE the petition (ECF No. 1 -1); 2. SEND a copy of the petition (ECF No. 1 -1) and this order to the FPD at ecf_nvchu@fd.org, the petitioner, and the CJA Coordinator for this division; 3. ADD the United States Attorneys' Office for the District of Nevada to the docket as an Interested Party. 4. MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey on 5/1/2026. On April 1, 2026, Petitioner Trevor Bastin Martin filed a threadbare petition for a writ of habeas corpus seeking his release from immigration custody. 1 I appointed the FPD as counsel for petition and directed counsel to file an amended petition, if one was warranted, and stayed the respondents' obligation to respond until further order. 3 Petitioner has now filed a counseled amended petition, and I find that it states a prima facie case for relief. 6 So I direct the respondents to file a response to the amended petition by May 15, 2026. The respondents must file any documents referenced or relied upon in their responsive pleading with that pleading. The petitioner's reply is due May 22, 2026.
