TEXT ORDER, Currently pending before the Court is Petitioner's habeas petition, which is brought pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2241, and a motion for a temporary restraining order. (ECF Nos. 1-2.) The Chief Judge entered an Order staying his transfer pending further order of the Court. (ECF No. 3.) Petitioner, however, previously filed a habeas petition, which was assigned to the Honorable Zahid N. Quraishi. See Civ. No. 26-1783. On March 24, 2026, the Court denied the Petition and lifted the temporary stay of transfer. On March 30, 2026, Petitioner filed a motion for reconsideration in that case, which is still pending. (ECF Nos. 5-7.) Also on March 30, separate counsel filed this action but does not list 26-1783 as a related case on the Civil Cover Sheet. (See ECF No. 1-1.) Petitioner may not proceed on two different habeas actions at the same time or attempt to obtain a different result by filing a new action that is assigned to a different District Judge. Petitioner is directed to SHOW CAUSE by Friday, May 8, 2026, why the Court should not lift the stay of transfer and why Petitioner should not be required to withdraw this action and seek leave to file an Amended Petition in 26-1783. So Ordered by Judge Madeline Cox Arleo on 5/4/2026. (aa, ) (Entered: 05/04/2026)
