(IN CHAMBERS) ORDER RE TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER (DKT. 14 ) by Judge John A. Kronstadt: On March 31, 2026, a Temporary Restraining Order ("TRO") issued which required Respondents to release Petitioner from custody within 14 days, i.e., by April 14, 2026. Dkt. 14 at 9. The injunctive relief granted through the TRO was stayed for 14 days to permit Respondents to submit supplemental evidence within 10 days, i.e., by April 10, 2026, seeking to demonstrate that Petitioner's removal is likely to occur in the reasonably foreseeable future. Id. The TRO provided that, if Respondents did "not proffer supplemental evidence, the stay will end 14 days following the issuance of this Order and the corresponding injunctive relief will take immediate effect without further order of the Court." Id. Respondents did not submit any supplemental evidence by the April 10, 2026 deadline, and have made no other submissions in response to the TRO. Therefore, under its terms, the TRO is in effect and Respondents are ORDERED to release Petitioner from custody forthwith. Respondents shall file a certificate of compliance with this Order and the TRO by April 17, 2026. THERE IS NO PDF DOCUMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ENTRY. (jg) TEXT ONLY ENTRY (Entered: 04/15/2026)

(IN CHAMBERS) ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE RE PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION by Judge John A. Kronstadt: On April 20, 2026, Respondents filed a notice of compliance with the Temporary Restraining Order, Dkt. 15 ("TRO"), which issued on March 31, 2026. Dkt. 17 ("Notice"). The Notice states that Petitioner was released from custody on April 2, 2026. Id. at 2. Accordingly, Respondents are ORDERED TO SHOW CAUSE why a preliminary injunction should not issue with respect to the relief that has been requested by Petitioner. See C.D. Cal. L.R. 65-1. Respondents shall file any written response to the Order to Show Cause ("OSC") no later than April 24, 2026. Petitioner shall file any reply no later than April 27, 2026. If either or both parties elect to rely on their prior briefing of the TRO, they shall file a corresponding notice on or before the due date of their respective briefs. The parties' briefing as to the OSC shall address whether granting the TRO has made the PI, and the Petition for a Writ of Habeas Corpus itself, moot. Based on a review of the briefing or notice(s) filed in response to the OSC, a determination will be made whether to schedule a hearing on whether a preliminary injunction should issue or to take the matter under submission.
