TEXT ORDER: On March 23, 2026, Daiane Cruz De Moura, proceeding pro se, filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus and Emergency Motion to Prevent Transfer, as next friend to Maikon Andre Dias Ferreira. (Dkt. No. 1). Having found good cause shown for the relief requested, Respondents are directed to appear before the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, located at 100 S. Clinton Street, Syracuse, New York 13261, on April 21 2026, at 8:30 AM, via video and SHOW CAUSE why the Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus should not be granted. Respondents are further directed to file a response to the Petition no later than April 3, 2026. Petitioner shall file a reply by April 10, 2026, and in it Ms. De Moura shall "provide an adequate explanation-such as inaccessibility, mental incompetence, or other disability-why" Maikon Andre Dias Ferreira "cannot appear on his own behalf to prosecute the action." Iza by Iza v. Larocco, 25-cv-6915, 2026 WL 31378, at *8 (E.D.N.Y. Jan. 5, 2026). Further, Petitioner is directed to provide the Court with a phone number and email address where she can receive a link to the video hearing. Respondents are enjoined from moving Petitioner outside the jurisdiction of the Northern District of New York until this civil action is resolved. The Clerk of the Court shall serve copies of this Order to Show Cause and the petition upon the United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York in accordance with the Local Rules. Ms. De Moura is directed to serve Respondent Warden, Broome County Correctional Facility with a copy of this Text Order by March 27, 2026, and file a certificate of service by March 30, 2026.
