ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE. IT IS ORDERED that the 1 IFP application is GRANTED. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Petitioner's 1 -2 motion for appointment of counsel is GRANTED. The Federal Public Defender for the District of Nevada ("FPD") is appointed to represent Petitioner Jonatha Javier Mendez Hernandez and is directed to file a notice of appearance by March 19, 2026. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Petitioner, with the assistance of counsel, may file an amended petition for a writ of habeas corpus by March 24, 2026, or notify the Court that he does not intend to file an amended petition by March 23, 2026. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of the Court will send a copy of this Order to the FPD and the CJA coordinator for this division. Respondents are ORDERED TO SHOW CAUSE why the 1 -1 writ should not be granted. Respondents shall file a notice of appearance by March 19, 2026. Respondents must file "a return certifying the true cause of detention" within 3 days of Petitioner either (1) filing an amended petition for a writ of habeas corpus or (2) indicating he does not intend to file an amended petition. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Respondents shall not transfer Petitioner to a detention center outside of this judicial district, pending further order of the Court. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of Court is kindly instructed to: 1. ADD the United States Attorney for the District of Nevada to the docket as an Interested Party.
