MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Richard F. Boulware, II on 3/17/2026.The Court is in receipt of Federal Respondents' 7 Motion for Extension of Time, which was incorrectly docketed as a stipulation. See ECF No. 7 at 2-3 ("On March 16, 2026, Federal Respondents sent an email to opposing counsel requesting a four-day extension... At time of filing, Federal Respondents have not received a response from opposing counsel, necessitating this instant motion.").The Clerk of Court is kindly instructed to amend the docket entry at ECF No. 7 to reflect that it is a motion, not a stipulation. The Court will consider Federal Respondents' requested extension after Petitioner has had an opportunity to respond. (Copies have been distributed pursuant to the NEF - IML) (Entered: 03/17/2026)

MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Richard F. Boulware, II on 3/18/2026. Before the Court is Respondents' Motion to Extend Time (ECF No. 7 ). Through it, Respondents seek an additional four days to respond to this Court's Order to Show Cause (ECF No. 4 ). The Court has reviewed the Motion, as well as Petitioner's opposition and finds that good cause exists for a modest two-day extension of this deadline. Nonetheless, the Court declines to grant a four-day extension, as the Court does not find good cause for a longer extension at this time. In reaching this result, the Court relies on the following findings: 1. While the Court acknowledges Respondents' Counsel's significant case load, the Court notes that this case load is a direct result of Respondents' own conduct. 2. Petitioner's liberty is at stake in this case. See generally ECF No. 1 (Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus). As such, Petitioner is directly prejudiced by unnecessary delays in the resolution of this case. 3. This is a habeas matter. As such, this Court is required to promptly address Petitioner's claims. See Yong v. I.N.S., 208 F.3d 1116, 1120 (9th Cir. 2000) (citation omitted). Therefore, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED Respondents' Motion to Extend Time (ECF No. 7 ) is GRANTED in part and DENIED in part. Respondents must file their response to this Court's Order to Show Cause today, March 18, 2026. Petitioner now has up to, and including, March 20, 2026, to reply. (Copies have been distributed pursuant to the NEF - CMB) (Entered: 03/18/2026)
