ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE - it is hereby ORDERED that the motion (Doc. 2 ) to proceed in forma pauperis is GRANTED. The petition (Doc. 1) for a writ of habeas corpus is deemed FILED. The Clerk of Court is directed to SERVE a copy of the petition (Doc. 1) and this order on the respondents and the United States Attorney. To the extent the petition (Doc. 1) raises civil claims separate from challenging an alleged unlawful detention, those claims are DISMISSED without prejudice. If Valerio Alexander wishes to pursue civil claims and establish damages, he must file a separate lawsuit. Respondents shall file, within twenty-one (21) days from the date of this order, a response to the petition.
