Joel Richlin: The Court is in receipt of Petitioner's Motion for Appointment of Counsel, received by the Court on May 22, 2026 and apparently prepared and mailed by Petitioner on May 19, 2026. (Dkt. 25 .) The Court notes that it previously referred this matter to the Office of the Federal Public Defender, which appeared in the action on May 8, 2026. (Dkt. 21 .) Based on the Status Report filed on May 26, 2026, the Office of the Federal Public Defender was not able to have a legal call with Petitioner until May 24, 2026. (Dkt. 24 .) Thus, it appears that Petitioner was simply not award that the Office of the Federal Public Defender had appeared in the case when he filed his Motion for Appointment of Counsel.
