TRANSFER ORDER: In his 1 Petition for a Writ of Habeas Corpus Under 28 U.S.C. § 2241, Petitioner challenges his ongoing detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, New Jersey. Although Petitioner's home is in Queens, New York, it is well settled that § 2241 requires a habeas petitioner challenging his present physical confinement to file a petition in the district of confinement. See Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U.S. 426, 443 (2004); Trump v. J.G.G., 604 U.S. 670, 672 (2025) (per curiam). Venue in this District is therefore improper. The Clerk of Court is directed to transfer this action to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and to close this matter. Ordered by Judge Orelia E. Merchant on 3/4/2026. (MMP)
