MINUTE entry before the Honorable Rebecca R. Pallmeyer: Petitioner brings a 28 U.S.C. 2241 habeas corpus petition challenging his immigration detention. He alleges he was arrested on February 5, 2026, and initially detained at the ICE Broadview, Illinois facility. ( 1 at 2.) He concedes, however, that he was later transferred and was detained at the Campbell County Detention Center in Newport, Kentucky at the time he filed the instant habeas corpus petition on February 21, 2026. Id. at 4. A habeas corpus petition must be filed in the Judicial District where a detainee is confined. Trump v. J.G.G., 604 U.S. 670, 672 (2025) (citing Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U.S. 426, 443 (2004)). The Campbell County Detention Center is located in Campbell County, Kentucky, in the Judicial District for the Eastern District of Kentucky. 28 U.S.C. 97(a). The Clerk is instructed to transfer this matter forthwith to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky at Covington, Kentucky.
