ORDER. Petitioner filed a 1 Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus on 02/18/2026. In a 6 Notice of Suggestion of Mootness, Respondents informed the Court that Petitioner was granted voluntary departure, and departed the United States on 03/17/2026. The purpose of a writ of habeas corpus is to challenge the legal authority under which an individual is being held in custody. See, e.g., Keitel v. Mazurkiewicz, 729 F.3d 278, 280 (3d Cir. 2013). The Court lacks jurisdiction to decide an issue unless it presents a live case or controversy as required by Article III, § 2 of the Constitution. Given Petitioners departure from the United States, there is no remedy that the Court can provide. Therefore, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the 1 Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus is DISMISSED as moot. The Clerk of Court is directed to mark this CASE CLOSED. Signed by Judge William S. Stickman on 03/24/2026. Text-only entry; no PDF document will issue. This text-only entry constitutes the Order of the Court or Notice on the matter. (rgm) (Entered: 03/24/2026)
