MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: Petitioner has filed a 28 U.S.C. 2241 habeas corpus petition seeking an order directing Respondents to conduct a bond hearing. Petitioner alleges he was arrested by ICE officials on 9/22/2025; his attorney asserts that she cannot currently locate him. The petition alleges that Petitioner entered the United States without inspection in 1988 from Mexico; lives in Cicero Illinois; and has two children who are U.S. Citizens. The ICE Inmate Locator Webpage shows a Francisco Mejia-Olalde; Mexico as Country of Birth; A Number: 220976416; located at the Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center in Genevieve Missouri. Respondent is ordered to respond to the habeas corpus petition by 10/3/2025. In addition: Respondent shall by 9/26/2025: (1) confirm whether this ICE locator information is the correct information for Petitioner; (2) state whether Petitioner was located in the Northern District of Illinois at the time this case was filed; (3) describe the current status of Petitioner's immigration proceedings; and (4) identify Petitioner's current location and proper Respondent based on that location. Petitioner's reply in support of the habeas corpus petition is due by10/10/2025. The Court will leave it to Petitioner to bring any motion for temporary restraining order desired necessary to protect the Court's jurisdiction under the All Writs Act or as to Petitioner's movement by ICE if so desired.
