ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE and Electronic Service upon the US Attorney's Office: For habeas petitions "request[ing] release from confinement," "'jurisdiction lies in only one district: the district of confinement.'" Trump v. J. G. G., 604 U.S. 670, 672 (2025) (quoting Rumsfeld v. Padilla, 542 U.S. 426, 443 (2004)); see also id. ("The detainees are confined in Texas, so venue is improper in the District of Columbia."). The petitioner filed the petition for writ of habeas corpus in the Eastern District of New York requesting release from ICE detention; however, the petitioner alleges that he is currently detained by ICE at 26 Federal Plaza in New York, which is located within the Southern District of New York. Accordingly, petitioner is ordered to show cause why the case should not be transferred to the Southern District of New York by tomorrow, February 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.Ordered by Judge Gary R.
