ELECTRONIC ORDER: The parties are reminded that they may consent to have all further proceedings in this case conducted by the magistrate judge. Consent to the magistrate judges authority is voluntary. Any party is free to withhold consent without adverse substantive consequences. But a magistrate judge may often be in the best position to provide a speedy, just, and inexpensive adjudication of a civil case while still preserving the right of direct appeal to the Court of Appeals. If all parties consent to the authority of the magistrate judge, the district judge can reassign the case to the magistrate judge to conduct all further proceedings, including entry of a final judgment, pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 636(c), with any appeal directly to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. If all parties do not consent, the undersigned magistrate judge will continue to handle the case under the district judges order of reference for pretrial management and will enter orders or findings, conclusions, and recommendations in this case pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 636(b), and the parties will retain the right to seek review of the magistrate judges findings, conclusions, and recommendations in the manner provided by 28 U.S.C. § 636(b)(1) and Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 72(b). A Notice and Election Regarding Consent to Proceed Before a United States Magistrate Judge is available at https://www.txnd.uscourts.gov/attorneys/civil-form. Please complete this form and return it to the district clerk -- but do not file it by CM/ECF on the docket -- by June 1, 2026. (Ordered by Magistrate Judge Rebecca Rutherford on 5/11/2026) (rekc) (Entered: 05/11/2026)

ELECTRONIC ORDER: On April 14, 2026, Respondents filed a notice that they intended to remove Petitioner to Honduras "on or after April 17, 2026." ECF No. 8. However, the docket sheet does not reflect whether Petitioner has been removed. Upon review of ICE's Online Detainee Locator, it appears Petitioner is no longer in ICE custody and may have already been removed. Thus, to ensure the Court retains jurisdiction over this action, Respondents are ORDERED to file a status report by July 2, 2026 advising the Court whether Petitioner remains detained pending removal. (Ordered by Magistrate Judge Rebecca Rutherford on 6/22/2026) (chmb) (Entered: 06/22/2026)
