TEXT ORDER: This matter is before the Court on Petitioner Geraldo Magela Antunes Perreira Bastos' Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2241, D.E. 1 ("Petition"), challenging his unlawful detention by immigration authorities without a bond hearing. Respondents filed an Answer in opposition to relief, D.E. 5, because Petitioner is detained under 8 U.S.C. § 1226(a) and entitled to a bond hearing but has not requested a hearing from the immigration court. Petitioner filed a reply brief, D.E. 6 ("Reply"), stating that his request for a bond hearing is in the alternative to his request for immediate release. It is ORDERED that to exhaust his administrative remedies, Petitioner shall file a request for a bond hearing. Petitioner shall file a status report within 7 days of the date of this Order to advise the Court of the status of his request. So Ordered by Judge Evelyn Padin on 2/4/2026.
