TEXT ORDER: In response to the petition for a writ of habeas corpus (DN 1 ), the Court directs the Respondents to show cause, no later than 1/20/2026, why the writ should not be granted. See 28 U.S.C. § 2243. The Respondents should address the extent (if any) to which the Petitioner's next-friend status affects its analysis or the Court's jurisdiction. The Court further directs the Respondents to address the Petitioners challenge to the conditions of the detainee's confinement and deliberate-indifference claim based on the detainee's "denied or delayed" medical treatment. DN 1 at 34. Finally, the Court directs the parties to file, no later than 1/21/26, a joint status report or separate letters advising the Court whether they seek a hearing or instead prefer that the Court set a briefing schedule and decide the petition on the papers. The Clerk of Court shall forward by certified mail, return receipt requested, one copy of the petition and this order on each Respondent.
